Akiem Hicks Appears to Suffer Gruesome Elbow Injury vs. Raiders

Akiem Hicks got himself back into the starting lineup for a big game against the Oakland Raiders after a week off with a knee problem. Things started well with a strong tackle for a minimal game on the first drive. Then disaster struck. During another run play, Hicks tried to make another tackle but collided with teammate Khalil Mack, whose helmet seems to deliver a nasty blow the big defensive end’s elbow. By all signs, it appeared like a dislocation. Hicks was promptly taken to the sideline and then the locker room.

Never a good sign.

Hicks was soon declared questionable to return. That makes it uncertain if he will but based on the video, the odds don’t appear in his favor. This means the Bears will need another strong performance from backup Nick Williams who played so well last week against Minnesota. A game in which he had two sacks. Hopefully whatever the issue is won’t be as serious as it looked.
