BART proposing plan to let riders jump security lines at SFO
As airline passengers have embraced taking Uber or Lyft to the airport in recent years, the number of passengers exiting BART trains at SFO has been on the decline, even though the number of airline passengers over has soared.
In 2016, an average of 6,788 passengers per day exited trains at SFO. This year, that number has fallen to 5,950, a 13 percent decline, according to BART's fiscal year ridership statistics.
As a result, the transit agency is exploring ways to reverse that trend. One idea on the docket for discussion among BART's Board of Directors this month is to provide transit riders with access to "priority" airport security check in lanes.
