[Football] Big Fourth Quarter Seals Valley Forge's Win Over Williamson

Anyone looking at the score might think that, as usual, Valley Forge Military College walked all over Williamson on the football field again, like they usually do.  Afterall, Williamson lost 40-0 last year to the Trojans and has won just twice in the 26-game series between the two squads.  Yet, this year the score was not indicative of just how close a game it was until the fourth quarter.  Williamson trailed just 13-0 at half and still was in the game at the end of the third quarter, as they trailed 19-0.  The Trojans then used three scoring plays of more than 44-yards in an eight-minute span to finish off the Mechanics in a 42-0 final.

While Williamson's offense struggled to move the ball, Williamson's defense played a great game through three quarters and kept the Mechanics within reach.  In the end, however an exhausted defense simply could not keep up with the Trojans.  Williamson managed just 158 yards of total offense and was 0-10 on third down conversions.  It also didn't help that leading rusher David Williams (SR/Philadelphia, PA) and second leading receiver Bryson Townsend (JR/Dillsbury) both got knocked out of the game with injuries.  Williams had 38 yards on 10 carries before exiting the game.

Williamson's defense was led by Chris Carney (JR/Coatsville, PA) (11 tackles), Tyriq Langley (SR/Philadelphia, PA) (nine tackles) and Joe Molitor (eight tackles), while Chris Ringwalt (FR/Springfield, PA) and Shane Dougherty (JR/Ridley Park, PA) intercepted passes for the Mechanics.

Williamson drops to 3-2 on the year.  They return home next Saturday for a 1:00 P.M. kick-off for Senior Day against the New Jersey Warriors.
