Colby raises $500 million toward Dare Northward goal
WATERVILLE, Maine (AP) — Colby College says its Dare Northward campaign, launched three years ago, has reached a milestone of $500 million.
Colby officials said the effort, fueled by more than 20,000 donors, is two-thirds of the way to its goal of $750 million.
The Morning Sentinel reports that it’s currently the largest higher education fundraising initiative in Maine.
The college says the campaign has supported a 15% increase in faculty positions and new programs for students. It also helped to build a new dorm in downtown Waterville that’s home to 200 students, faculty, and staff.
President David Greene said the program isn’t over. The campaign will need to raise an additional $250 million to achieve its $750 million goal by June 30, 2023.
