Basketball coaches team up to take on coronavirus

Siena men’s basketball coach Carmen Maciariello said he takes precautions when he goes out in public during the coronavirus pandemic. He wishes everyone else would do the same.

“I went to the grocery store one time and would hope to see everybody with masks and gloves, but that wasn’t the case,’’ Maciariello said. “Hopefully, people start to figure that out, but I think, for the most part, everyone’s doing a good job.”

Maciariello and the state’s other 43 Division I men and women’s basketball coaches are trying to do their part as part of Team New York, an initiative meant to encourage the public to stop the spread of the virus.
