Natera: 1Q Earnings Snapshot

SAN CARLOS, Calif. (AP) _ Natera Inc. (NTRA) on Wednesday reported a loss of $35.4 million in its first quarter.

The San Carlos, California-based company said it had a loss of 45 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 57 cents per share.

The genetic testing company posted revenue of $94 million in the period.

Natera shares have increased slightly more than 6% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $35.85, an increase of 84% in the last 12 months.
