HollyFrontier: 1Q Earnings Snapshot

DALLAS (AP) _ HollyFrontier Corp. (HFC) on Thursday reported a first-quarter loss of $304.6 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

The Dallas-based company said it had a loss of $1.88 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 53 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 44 cents per share.

The independent energy company posted revenue of $3.4 billion in the period, which missed Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $3.79 billion.

HollyFrontier shares have declined 41% since the beginning of the year. The stock has fallen 34% in the last 12 months.
