NEW YORK (AP) _ Intra-Cellular Therapies Inc. (ITCI) on Thursday reported a loss of $47.4 million in its first quarter.

The New York-based company said it had a loss of 73 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 98 cents per share.

The biopharmaceutical company posted revenue of $1.1 million in the period.

Intra-Cellular shares have declined 48% since the beginning of the year. The stock has risen 27% in the last 12 months.
