The best Capital Region bowlers of all time
The Professional Bowlers Association, created in 1959 to give the country’s top players an organized platform and a way to make a living, held its first event at Schade’s Academy in Albany. That was no surprise, given the number of elite bowlers who emerged from the Capital Region.
It also made picking only four busts for a Mount Rushmore of Capital Region bowling extremely difficult. The forefathers created an interest in bowling that has extended through the generations and into today.
Those who made the final cut represent a combination of high skills on the lanes and a willingness to promote the game away from them.
