Chicago Bears 2020 Schedule Has Begun to Leak and With Some Twists
The Chicago Bears 2020 schedule is slated to release this evening at 6:30 on the team website and at 7:00 on NFL Network. However, per usual, the leaks have already begun to slip out. Danny Parkins of 670 The Score was the first to get tipped off on how things are shaping up for them. Suffice to say the beginning and end of their season certainly shifts away from the trends that had been going for some time.
For the third-straight year, the Bears will be opening against an NFC North rival. Except this time it won’t be the Green Bay Packers whom they’d faced in both 2018 and 2019. It will be a trip up to Detroit against the Lions. Certainly a big change of pace from what they’re used to. The big grudge match with Green Bay will wait until November when they battle at Lambeau Field after Thanksgiving, followed by a rematch at Soldier Field in Week 17.
It seems the Bears will have three other primetime games as well. A Thursday Night affair at home against Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. A Monday Night showdown with the Rams in L.A. two weeks later and then hosting the Vikings at home on Monday Night three weeks after that.
Chicago Bears 2020 schedule offers a chance for quick start
This looks like potentially great news for the Bears. They haven’t won their opening game of a season since 2013. This offers a big opportunity to finally break that streak. Chicago has beaten the Lions in four-straight games including a thrilling comeback in Detroit on Thanksgiving last year. Obviously the game won’t be a cakewalk but it’s one they have good reasons to feel confident about getting out of with a victory.
This also marks the first time since 2015 that the Bears won’t be ending the season against Minnesota. The last time they closed things out against Green Bay? It was the infamous 2013 game that featured the Randall Cobb Hail Mary. Not a memory fans would choose to bring up. Still, it does offer a chance for some redemption after two disappointing performances against the Packers last season.
It will also be interesting to see how they handle their rematch against the Rams. That team appears to have taken a number of tough hits to their roster over the past couple of months. Chicago will be motivated for some revenge after the rough performance last year.
