Musselwhite, Bishop team up at Nicasio

Charlie Musselwhite picked up the harmonica at age 13 and learned how to play the blues with the encouragement of Furry Lewis and other members of the Memphis Jug Band.

After moving to Chicago, he often sat in with the Muddy Waters band, picking up pointers from James Cotton and Little Walter Jacobs. His 1966 debut, “Stand Back! Here Comes Charley Musselwhite’s South Side Band,” was a classic and eased his entry into the Bay Area blues scene.
