Strop Signed, Hamilton Claimed Off Waivers And More Cubs Moves
It seems like for the past three weeks the Cubs have had one big roster move day and that’s the case again Monday.
A few days ago the Cubs claimed infielder Ildemaro Vargas off waivers from the Twins and now he’s been added to the 28-man active roster.
The signing of Pedro Strop is now official, as he’ll head to South Bend. Meanwhile, the Cubs picked up speedy outfielder Billy Hamilton off waivers from the Mets. He’s not with the club just yet, though.
But there’s more! The Cubs also added pitcher Duncan Robinson to their 60-man player pool. The 26-year-old has a 2.93 ERA in 310.2 innings in four seasons down in the minors.
The Cubs had to make room with all these new additions and that included DFA’ing left-handed pitcher Matt Dermody and releaseing catcher Jose Lobaton.
So, the Cubs will eventually add Hamilton to the roster as the team recently DFA’d Steven Souza Jr.
