49ers practice at Levi’s despite chunky field

The 49ers went ahead and practiced at Levi’s Stadium on Sunday afternoon after the grass along the west sideline at the 1-year-old facility came up in large chunks during the first practice of training camp Saturday night.

The 49ers avoided similar issues Sunday, partly because they moved individual drills away from the problem area on the west sideline. On Saturday, several wide receivers lost their footing during drills when the sod gave way, but the rest of the field held up well throughout the practice.

“The individual periods will be adjusted a little bit,” head coach Jim Tomsula said before practice.
