Lee Grant blacklisted once but rarely bored

When the acting and directing jobs that had occupied her for close to 80 years finally began to thin out four years ago, the perpetually active Lee Grant needed something to do. Never having written much of anything, the Academy and Emmy Award winner produced a strikingly brisk, forthright and revealing show business memoir, “I Said Yes to Everything.” Published last year, it’s now out in paperback.

“I think the most important impetus in life,” said Grant on a weekend visit to San Francisco, “is that it not be boring. The fear of boredom drove me more than any yearning for something I wanted to achieve.
