TikToker goes viral for making songs out of boomer drama on Facebook

0

Facebook is a toxic void of misinformation and hate speech, but petty boomer beef lives on in comment sections and groups. TikToker Lubalin decided to make the drama more dramatic.

While the musician and producer's previous TikToks involve reinterpretations of Vengaboys and Lil Nas X songs, he's gone viral for his musical productions of two pieces of Facebook drama. New Yorker critic Emily Nussbaum posted a video to Twitter yesterday, which opened him up to a bigger audience.

A TikTok from Dec. 22, which puts a thrilling spin on Facebook Marketplace interactions, has more than 13 million views. One from this week, involving broccoli casserole drama, has more than 8 million views. "What did Caroline do Helen?" has never felt so urgent.

The Montreal-based musician has original music and videos out, but these videos resonated: Some people asked for a whole album of songs. Actress Allison Tolman demanded he receive an EGOT.

Lubalin apparently returned to Twitter today, after his video was retweeted by Jemaine Clement.
