‘Buss It’ TikTok challenge has people possibly busting knees

Erica Banks' song "Buss It" has ascended on TikTok, and it now soundtracks a viral challenge that's all about the drop.

The Dallas rapper's track has been circulating on TikTok since last summer, but the new challenge raised her profile: She just signed with Warner Records.

So what is the "Buss It" challenge? It's similar to transition-specific trends like the Wipe It Down challenge, where participants start in one scenario and end up in another. The "Buss It" challenge typically requires a transition from one outfit to another, with an emphasis on the drop.

BuzzFeed points to a Jan. 2 TikTok from Erika Davila as the inspiration. She does the drop in sweats, but suggests, "Someone plz do this transition but all prettied up omg plzzzz."

Banks recently participated in the challenge and asked Nicki Minaj to join in. Monica and Gabrielle Union also participated.

Some people got creative: This TikTok incorporates last week's pro-Trump siege on the Capitol into the challenge.

But the real heroes of the "Buss It" challenge are the knees that likely weathered multiple attempts at a seamless transition.
