US senators intend to increase military aid to Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has held a meeting with a group of US senators to discuss the possibility of increasing military aid to Kiev
“We got a clear picture of the challenges and problems faced by the Ukrainian army and people in the war zone, and this will give us additional arguments to convince us on our return to the US to continue providing much needed aid to Ukraine”, – Senator Jeanne Shaheen said during the briefing.
Republican Senator Rob Portman said the meeting with the Ukrainian president also “discussed increasing aid to Ukraine to strengthen its fighting capacity.”
On Tuesday, 1 June, a delegation of US Senators comprising Jeanne Shaheen, Chris Murphy (Democratic Party) and Rob Portman (Republican Party) arrived in Ukraine. The US senators will hold meetings with President Volodymyr Zelensky, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and MPs of the Verkhovna Rada.
