Far Cry 6's DLC Roadmap Is Already Planned Out | Screen Rant

0

A Far Cry 6 developer has revealed that the game’s DLC roadmap is already planned out at Ubisoft. Far Cry 6 will transport players to the fictional Caribbean island of Yara, where they will take control of guerrilla Dani Rojas as they fight to topple the dictatorship of Antón Castillo, played by Giancarlo Esposito.

Far Cry 6, and Ubisoft in general, has been receiving a lot of coverage recently, after narrative director Navid Khavari wrote a blog post about game's political nature. While Ubisoft originally denied Far Cry 6 has any political slant at all, Khavari has since gone on to officially change this stance. However, despite now stating that Far Cry 6 is a political story after all, Khavari refused to allude to any specific revolutions being the source of the game’s inspiration. Instead, Khavari stated that Far Cry 6 is "a story that’s point-of-view attempts to capture the political complexity of a modern, present-day revolution within a fictional context.”

With Far Cry 6’s political agenda now mostly cleared up, Ubisoft has been furthering the game’s marketing campaign ahead of its October 7 release. This has included an AMA on the r/FarCry subreddit. While answering community question, the game’s director Alexandre Letendre was asked by user ChrisOutsiders whether there was a DLC roadmap in place for Far Cry 6 at this point. To this, Letendre replied, “For sure & yes more on that later and we are not going to keep you waiting for too long.”

Ubisoft also recently revealed some fresh Far Cry 6 gameplay footage, showing off what fans can expect from the next game in the Far Cry series. While a lot of what has been shown is in keeping with previous Far Cry entries, with a narrative that sees an underdog having to rise up against a maniacal oppression, the inclusion of animal "amigos" looks like a welcome and fun iteration on Far Cry 5's Boomer. Chorizo the dog and Guapo the crocodile have already become internet sensations, and they'll offer players different tactical advantages when they accompany Dani on missions. A DLC centering on these adorable, and useful, sidekicks (or perhaps even adding more) would likely be a welcome addition to the game’s main campaign content.

Along with confirming Far Cry 6’s DLC roadmap, Ubisoft also revealed that, unlike previous entries to the series, Far Cry 6 will not include an Arcade mode or a map editor during the AMA. It will, however, bring back the fan-favorite wingsuit for traversal, as well as the grappling hook and an option to play the full game in co-op. For those always itching for more Far Cry content, word that DLC planning and/or development is already well underway likely nice to know ahead of launch.
