[Softball] Madonna's Softball Run Comes to an End at NAIA World Series
COLUMBUS, Ga. - (DAY 1 RECAP | DAY 2 RECAP | DAY 3 RECAP | DAY 4 RECAP) - Madonna's "Why not us?" run led the Crusaders to finish as one of the top six teams in NAIA softball. The Crusaders went 1-2 at the 2021 NAIA Softball World Series to tie Davenport (2017) for the all-time highest finish for a WHAC school.
Throughout the playoffs, Madonna players adopted the mantra of "Why not us?" to propel them through the Opening Round and the World Series. Seeded sixth, MU won its first game of the World Series with an offensive show for a 10-6 mark against third-seeded Olivet Nazarene (Ill.). The Crusaders then pushed No. 2 Orgeon Tech to nine innings before falling 5-4. Their final game ended in a 5-4 loss to ninth-seeded Bethany (Kan.) to end the year at 34-11.
