90 Day Fiancé: Libby’s Dad Chuck Mocked By Fans For Fake Tears
The Potthast family has irritated many viewers, and based on a recent 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? preview, fans aren't buying patriarch Chuck’s crocodile tears. Elizabeth’s dad, Chuck, has found himself in a hard spot this season, trying to maintain peace between two sides of his family, and the preview seems to indicate he reaches his breaking point. However, fans are extremely skeptical of Chuck’s supposed emotional breakdown in the coming episodes, and it’s making many even more certain that the show is staged.
Elizabeth’s family has always clashed with her now-husband, Andrei Castravet, and season 6 of Happily Ever After is proving no different. The season is only partway through, and already there have been several confrontations, including a full-on Potthast family meltdown on a yacht. Most recently, Chuck had the profoundly misguided idea to rent an RV and take the entire family on a road trip. Obviously, if the Potthast family is put in an enclosed space with alcohol, things aren’t going to end well, and that’s exactly what happened.
The preview for the rest of the season teases a blow-up between Andrei and Elizabeth’s brother, Charlie, that explodes into a physical altercation that includes the entire family. “I don’t wanna see this. I don’t wanna see my family ruined,” Chuck comments in a cutaway interview, while dramatically wiping tears from his face—or is he? “That's sweat, Chucky boy,” one fan joked on Reddit, in a thread discussing Chuck’s possibly fake tears. “They made him bite a jalapeño before this scene,” another fan suggested.
Though many fans seemed to enjoy joking around about Chuck’s perceived crocodile tears, for some the preview was further proof that the Potthast storyline is fabricated. “I don't see any tears on Chuck's face, nor did I see any on Betty [Gibbs]'s or Stephanie [Davison]'s faces. This s*** is clearly scripted,” a commenter claimed. Several fans have suspected the Potthast scenes are scripted, including one allegedly staged 90 Day Fiancé scene between Andrei and Charlie. It’s not clear whether Chuck’s tears in the preview are real or fake, but that’s not stopping fans from assuming the worst.
Fans seem to be more fed up with the couples on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? than ever before, and Andrei, Elizabeth and the Potthasts are among the most despised. Though there have been many claims that the show is fake, viewers are more skeptical of the Potthasts than most other cast members. Some even think the Potthast family is aiming for a 90 Day Fiancé spin-off and desperately hoping TLC doesn’t take the bait.
90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? streams Fridays on Discovery+ and airs Sundays at 8pm on TLC.
