Goodnight Mommy Remake Casts Big Little Lies Twins | Screen Rant
An upcoming remake of the Austrian horror film Goodnight Mommy has added Cameron and Nicholas Crovetti, stars of The Boys and Big Little Lies, to its cast. The original, a German-language psychological mind-bender titled Ich seh, Ich seh (I See, I See), achieved critical acclaim and cult fandom after it was released in 2014. Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala directed and wrote the movie, which Amazon Studios is now remaking with Franz and Fiala as executive producers.
Now, Goodnight Mommy has cast twin brothers Nicholas and Cameron Crovetti, per Variety. The young actors play the nine-year-old sons of the film's main character, who will be played by Naomi Watts. The two starred together in HBO's hit drama Big Little Lies, and Cameron Crovetti recently had a recurring role on Amazon's The Boys as Ryan Butcher. Nicholas and Cameron Crovetti join a cast that includes Peter Hermann, Crystal Lucas-Perry, and Jeremy Bobb.
Kyle Warren is behind the new, English-language script, which Matt Sobel will direct. That the original film achieved only modest success is barely an indicator of the remake's potential. The difference in reach between a foreign-language indie and an Amazon Original is vast, and Goodnight Mommy certainly has the material for a Bird Box-style viral Twitter marketing campaign.
As its original title suggests, Goodnight Mommy toys with both the viewers' and its characters' trust in whether what they're seeing is real. The film begins when the twin brothers are reunited with their mother as she recovers from extensive facial surgery. Unsure whether the person who has returned is their real mom, the boys torture the mysterious woman, while the true villain of the film remains unclear.
