The White House says it wants a more stable relationship with Russia
At the same time, Washington does not imagine that they will become friendly
The US authorities seek more stable relations with Russia, but have no idea that they will become friendly. This assertion was made by Jake Sullivan, assistant to the President of the United States for national security, on the air of ABC television channel on Sunday.
“Our goal ultimately is a stable, predictable relationship where <…> even with much imagination we can’t imagine being friends, but [it’s about a relationship where] we can reduce the risk of escalation that will ultimately harm American interests,” Sullivan said.
He also noted that during the Russia-US summit in Geneva, US President Joe Biden heard important statements from Russian President Vladimir Putin about US-Russian relations, strategic stability and cybersecurity.
