The US has conducted a strike test of the aircraft carrier Gerald Ford

For the first time since 1987, the US Navy tested the aircraft carrier Gerald Ford with a powerful underwater blast, writes The Drive

According to the portal, all of the ship’s systems and crew operations were tested after the blast occurred in close proximity, from the resilience of on-board computer systems to elements of the nuclear reactor, sensor systems and crew support elements.

“This type of testing is extremely important for a new class of ship, especially one as complex as the Ford class. Explosions near an aircraft carrier can be caused by anti-ship missiles, naval mines, torpedoes or even explosions from other ships in the vicinity and hit by the enemy. The tests also provide some indication of how the ship would behave in the event of a successful enemy attack”, –  The Drive explained.
