Steady back nine delivers Professional’s Prize for Landy
Dundalk Golf Club Professional, Leslie Walker, held his annual prize to the ladies on Saturday, June 12 and Tuesday June 15. As always, this attracted a very large entry, with 144 ladies competing for this prestigious prize.
The scoring reflected this, with a number of ladies returning very impressive scores in the battle to secure the top spot. This was won with a superb 41 points by Bernie Landy, on countback from category winners Elaine Ward, Ide Mc Dermott and Teresa O’ Mahony.
Bernie had a very steady back nine and this proved pivotal in her success. She carded three three-ndy pointers on the back nine, and her 20 points was enough to edge out the competition.
Martina Byrne won the Saturday competition with a tremendous 42 points and the juvenile winner was Keira Kenny.
The ladies of Dundalk Golf Club would like to thank Leslie for his encouragement and help throughout the golfing year and his very generous sponsorship of this prize.
