Portland Timbers 2-1 Come Back Victory Over the Sporting Kansas City
The Portland Timbers earned three points at home in a hard fought game against Sporting Kansas City. The game marked the fans coming back , with an increase of up to 80% of stadium capacity, and it showed in the volume and intensity of the energy at the stands. A “come back” of sorts, with the most fans Providence has seen since March 2020.
Portland came back from a 1-0 deficit after Jaylin Lindsey’s goal in the 28th minute, with goals of Dairon Asprilla in minute 36, and Marvin Loria in the last minutes of the first half. The second half saw the Timbers fighting to keep the advantage in a hard fought bout that saw 5 yellow cards and require the teams medical staff to check on several players.
Portland won’t have time to dwell on tonights victory as is set to hit the road to Houston to face the Dynamo on June 23.
