We are voting for solidarity today, says Bright Armenia party’s leader

We are heading to polls today to vote in favour of solidarity as tomorrow will be the time for re-establishing that solidarity, as well as conciliation in our country, the leader of the opposition Bright Armenia party said today after casting his ballot in a Yerevan polling station.  

“I sincerely hope that there will be no alternative for us to the re-establishment of solidarity and conciliation because the challenges are really much greater today than we could simply envision. We have to leave aside the small truths for the sake of a greater one - a much greater value which is our state and our statehood,” he told reporters.

Addressing the flaws observed during the electoral campaign, Marukyan complained especially about the use of bad language over the period. “In that sense, the propaganda of both hatred and violence was increasingly intense. Our citizens’ vote[s] in polling stations today will preclude the chances of any political force to insist on an unequivocal victory. And we will arrive at the idea that we all have to sit around a single table to form a government of national consent. That’s the only option enabling us to find ways out of this situation,” he added.
