1 dead, another injured in south Austin shooting after argument at birthday party

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- One person died and a second is in a critical condition after a south Austin shooting early Sunday morning that police say stemmed from an argument at a birthday party.
Police and medics were called to the 11500 block of Robert Wooding Dr., which is south of Slaughter Lane and just east of Menchaca Road, around 12:30 a.m.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second person suffered critical life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital, Austin Travis County EMS said.
APD said that detectives spent time at the scene talking to witnesses about what happened and trying to track down the shooter.
