Another Harvey Start, Another Early Exit
On a day when the Baltimore Orioles desperately needed length from their starting pitcher, Matt Harvey failed to get through five innings. Today’s 7-4 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays was the ninth consecutive start for Harvey where he failed to pitch at least five innings.
Harvey allowed 4 runs on 9 hits, all of the runs and 5 hits coming in the 5th inning, while walking 2 and striking out 4 over 4.1 innings. The loss brings Harvey’s record down to 3-9.
Adam Plutko walked 1 and struck out 3 in 2.2 scoreless and hitless innings of relief of Harvey.
The Orioles produced their third-straight player multi-homerun game as Trey Mancini went 2 for 4 with 2 homeruns, 2 runs scored and 3 RBI.
Pedro Severino (1 for 2, 1 run scored, 1 RBI, 1 BB) contributed an 8th inning homerun to the losing effort.
Once again the Baltimore bats were anemic: 5 hits, 3 runners left on base and 0 for 2 with runners in scoring position.
