Star Fragments Animal Crossing: New Horizons Should Add
There are many unique ways to decorate islands in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Purchasing furniture at Nook's Cranny, finding items hidden in trees, or earning DIY recipes during seasonal events can all provide numerous options for indoor or outdoor designs. Of all the different decoration types in New Horizons, the DIY recipes for Star Fragments earned during Animal Crossing: New Horizons Meteor Shower events are particularly popular.
There are currently three types of Star Fragments in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, including the regular Star Fragments, Large Star Fragments, and Zodiac Star Fragments. Star Fragments are earned by wishing on stars during a Meteor Shower event, which causes the Fragments to wash up on the island's beach the following morning. These special treasures can then be collected and used to craft everything from magic wands, to space shuttles.
There are numerous Star Fragment recipes to collect in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but they can take a while to access. The recipes are given as gifts, one at a time, by Blathers' astronomy enthused sister Celeste. She will visit the island the same day that Meteor Showers are predicted to fall, and will appear in a random spot, requiring the player to hunt her down. She can also be found on the islands of friends who have Meteor Showers, which can help speed up access to each recipe. While some of the recipes she gives out are available all year long, like the Crescent Moon Chair or Rocket, the Zodiac recipes change from month to month. This means it can take a full year of New Horizons gameplay without time travel to collect them all.
Because Animal Crossing: New Horizons is over a year old, many players have likely already obtained and crafted most of the available Star Fragment recipes. Since this is likely true for the majority of players, New Horizons could consider adding a Meteor Shower update, expanding the variety of Star Fragments that fall, and adding new recipes to the current list. For example, planet fragments could introduce a third type of fragment, and change monthly like Zodiac Fragments. These could each be a unique color, and instead of being shapes like spikey stars, by round and have rings of brightly colored light based on the corresponding planet. These could be used to craft miniature planet lights, planetary wallpapers, string lights, or space-themed clothing.
Meteor Fragments could also be added as another uncommon variant like the Large Star Fragments. These Meteor Fragments could be used to craft an alien outfit, futuristic furniture, or even a meteorite wand. Expanding the selection of space and star-themed items in Animal Crossing: New Horizons would give fans new reasons to engage in Meteor Showers, and a fresh list of decorations to spruce up interstellar living spaces.
