0

Though the reactions to the Avengers game from Square Enix were split down the middle, there was absolutely no way that they were going to sit by and let their rights to Marvel languish. So with that, at last weekend's annual E3 presentation, Square Enix announced their latest Marvel title - a Guardians Of The Galaxy game.

One key difference between Avengers and Guardians Of The Galaxy is that the latter is not a co-op game but a single-player game. As a result, players have no choice but to play only as Star-Lord, with the rest of the Guardians around him as NPC AI-controlled characters. Aside from that information, a lot of questions about the game that remain unanswered. Still, Marvel gaming fans remain interested, and they've have had many disparate reactions to the announcement of the project.

10 Left Reeling

Most Marvel fans can agree with this tweet by @UpDownPunch completely, as the trailer for Square Enix's Guardians Of The Galaxy showed a giant merging of the base Guardians characters with more from the Marvel comics world.

The gameplay trailer also showed many great moments, despite doing away with co-op play angle that many players enjoyed with Avengers. And, even with the announcement that Star-Lord will be the only playable character, many fans will be waiting for the October 26, 2021 release and won't stop reeling until then.

9 Baby Groot Is Amazed

When audiences hear that something new in their preferred fandom is coming out, they are often excited beyond belief. In particular, Marvel fans, are some of the best and most loyal fans across all fandoms. If that release happens to be a game where they can immerse themselves within the world they love, that's even better. With this tweet, @RottenPk precisely captured that excitement with Baby Groot's adorably awestruck face.

8 Oh Wow

There are not many things that hardcore Marvel fans and Michael Scott from The Office have in common. However, this reaction to the fantastic looking action-packed gameplay that Square Enix showed off in the teaser for Guardians of the Galaxy is one of those rare shared things.

There were not many other words Marvel gaming fans could come up with when they got to the end of the trailer, especially once they found out that the game was one of the only ones on the release docket for this year, despite the number of gaming announcements made at E3 2021. Nevertheless, @SeekerotheDawn summed it all up nicely.

7 Oprah Says What

In this tweet, shared by @Dan2Di2, Oprah captures how every Nintendo Switch gamer felt when they heard that Guardians of the Galaxy will be released on that console alongside on all other consoles on October 26, 2021.

In a recent press release, Square Enix confirmed that the release for the Switch will be a cloud version of the game, available for Access Pass play on the popular device. In that same press release, they also confirmed that reliable internet connectivity will be a must to play the game. Additionally, there will be a limited launcher application tester available for download so gamers can choose whether or not to purchase the Access Pass for the game.

6 Oh...Yeah

All Marvel fans have experienced a moment where they see something related to the project being advertised and have a "flashback" to their favorite quote, panel, or scene from their favorite Marvel film.

Few audiences did not love this scene in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. It was such a quintessential Rocket moment, and it also captures the pure joy anyone feels when they love something beyond belief. With one tweet, @crazymurdav spoke to the Rocket in all Marvel fans.

5 Avengers Who?

With the initial release of Square Enix's Avengers game, there was a whole crowd of audiences who were not happy with the gameplay or the storytelling throughout the game. Though there have been quite a few updates to the game, with many more planned for the rest of 2021, that initial release reaction can't be ignored.

In one tweet by @LangleyMNeely, their voices were heard. With the adaptation of a third-person, single-player mode that focuses on competition rather than equipment searches to level up, those fans are pretty stoked to feel that they were heard for this newest game. To capture this feeling with one of the funniest parts in the original Guardians of the Galaxy movies was just a bonus.

4 So Excited

@TheKennyEstes seems to have been able to grasp the feeling of any fan that can barely contain themselves upon hearing news related to their fandom. The look on this baby's face alone is precisely how some of the Marvel gaming fans were undoubtedly feeling as the trailer went on, and the dance is how many of those fans felt on the inside.

When fans see something they truly love, it can sometimes be hard to express that excitement in  mere words, but that emotion seems to be summed up nicely in this tweet.

3 Celebratory Dancin'

Everyone has their version of a celebration dance, but few are as spot-on as the one depicted in this tweet by @US_War_Machine. It may seem weird that another one of the best reactions to the Guardians game is attached to another video from the cast of The Office; however, it is clear that these three are over the moon about something.

They are unafraid to let their joy out no matter how they may look to other people, and many fans of the Marvel universe are similarly confident in sharing their excitement, no matter what those around them think about their moves. Without a doubt, Marvel audiences often have the best fandom reactions across social media.

2 Buyin' It

When audiences see something they like, they are willing to do whatever they can to get what they want. Though hyperbolic, the idea of throwing money at the game producers to get what they want is exactly how many people reacted when they rushed to pre-order the Guardians of the Galaxy game as soon as it was announced at the E3 summit last weekend.

It seems that @arcadeadvntures would be willing to give more money if the game could be released immediately, but this October will have to be soon enough for each fan who is now waiting for the game.

1 Star-Lord Is Down

Celebratory dances are one thing, but the best way to show ultimate excitement for all things Guardians related is knowing that there is no other dance to share but the dance-off to save the universe. Here @QuintDunaway does just that, showing that even Star-Lord would be down for the game's trailer shown to audiences.

Much of the excitement for this game is generated by the fact that it is releasing in just four months, allowing for anticipation to build without making gamers wait too long to play. That is well worth a high kick for more than just Star-Lord.
