Why Chris Pratt Won’t Do an Impression of Arnold Schwarzenegger
During a recent interview promoting The Tomorrow War, Chris Pratt reveals why he won't do an impression of his father-in-law Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Chris Pratt, in a recent interview to promote his upcoming sci-fi action film The Tomorrow War, reveals why he won't be seen doing an impression of his father-in-law, Arnold Schwarzenegger. The film, which releases July 2 on Amazon Prime, is about an alien invasion that occurs in the future, and soldiers from the present day being sent forward in time to combat their ever growing forces. Pratt and one of his co-stars, Edwin Hodge, go into further detail over the film in a recent interview with Screen Rant.
Pratt's star power has been on a steady rise, having first gained notoriety from NBC's Parks and Recreation, to leading James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy and starring in the recent Jurassic World franchise. As his fame continued to rise, his personal life also underwent changes. Originally married to Anna Farris in 2009, the couple separated from one another in 2018. The following year, Pratt married Katherine Schwarzenegger, an accomplished author, as well as the eldest daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver.
In a recent interview with AP Entertainment to promote The Tomorrow War, Pratt reveals he will not try to do an impression of his famous father-in-law. He begins by discussing Schwarzenegger's early impressions of the film, having shown him Tomorrow War's trailer, the interviewer proceeds to do his best Schwarzenegger impression. Pratt responds:
"You won't catch me saying that, because I am going to see him for dinner on Sunday. And if he says, 'Hey I saw the interview where you did the impression of me' it might not work out."
Pratt is clearly trying his best to stay on his father-in-law's good side. Even with the controversy that has surrounded Schwarzenegger, the man has done extraordinary things throughout his life. While many shows, films and comedians have given audiences their best impression of Schwarzenegger's unique voice, Pratt maintains the level of respect a person should have toward their family. There is a clear admiration between the actors that is present in Pratt's interview.
Some have tried comparing The Tomorrow War to the Halo video game series, but Pratt is not building on or validating this idea. There are similarities, of course, but The Tomorrow War is poised to do something unique with the humans versus aliens struggle with use of time travel. Mostly, Pratt hopes fans will enjoy the action, the heart, and the aliens - which he promises look, "really cool."
