Wakefield Trinity • The class of 2022
Having caught up with every Academy game I could find on Trinity TV and YouTube I thought I’d give my now slightly more expert opinion on them. By them, I mean the ones who’ve stepped up to full squad members this last 12 month.
Isaac Shaw: For me, he’s the pick of the bunch. Good work ethic, a big lad with a good frame who could easily carry another stone or two. Pretty fearless in attack and defence. Needs to improve his ball retention but sadly that is always an issue for players who run hard and upright.
Lewis Murphy: Very quick and composed and like TJ a natural finisher, he’s especially good in broken play with great footwork. So long as he keeps his speed (and fitness obviously) he should go far. Needs to improve his positional play, especially in defense.
Pat O’Donovan: Looks like a workhorse and we always need them. Don’t see any obvious talents to set him
apart. Needs to bulk up as a workhorse and apparently a prop, which equals a hard life.
Dane Windrow: Same as O’Donovan.
Sam Eseh: The hardest one to call. I can see why we have taken a punt, he’s a big strong lad who will only get bigger and stronger. However he’s not a fluid player, he hangs off the play a bit at times and doesn’t seem to have the RL smarts that Shaw has.
Not included are the likes of Hall, Bowes, Aydin, etc as they are more known quantities.
Just my opinions and I admit I’ve not seen as many games as some.
