Gemma – who enjoys a jet-setting life – has forged her own successful career as a Team GB dressage champion.

But she is now looking to find fame and love on the UK’s biggest dating show.

Wearing a figure-hugging pink dress, Gemma said in her promo video: “I would say I do have a hard exterior when you first get to know me.

“Once they get to know me, they realise I’m quite nice but it definitely takes time to see that I think.

“It would be nice if I did score in the villa, it would be nice to find someone that I did have a connection with and that I did get on really well with – that would be the goal…see what I did there.”

It comes after Gemma admitted her footballer dad Michael isn’t thrilled about her heading into the villa.

The former England and Liverpool player Michael ‘isn’t happy’ about the idea of his daughter appearing on the hit show.

Speaking to Mail Online about her Love Island debut, Gemma said: “I still wouldn’t say that my dad is buzzing about me doing Love Island.”

Gemma is the eldest of four children Michael shares with his childhood sweetheart wife, Louise Bonsall – and she also isn’t jumping for joy at the news.

“I wouldn’t say that they were 100 per cent happy with it, but I would definitely say they trust me… not to do anything to purposely disrespect them,” Gemma added.

Next week, Gemma will be joining this year’s Love Island intake in the hope of finding love as the new series of the show kicks off.

The sportswoman decided to give Love Island a go after a relationship break-up and has admitted she does have a very competitive streak.

However, Gemma has said it is unlikely she will have sex in front of the cameras and revealed dad Michael and mum Louise have issued her with a warning.

She added that they have told her to “keep it classy” during her time in the villa.

Meanwhile, Gemma already has a big social media presence with a whopping 48,000 followers on Instagram.

She is often seen online jetting off to exotic locations around the world.

Just recently, Gemma was seen holidaying with her family in Dubai, where she posed for a selfie with her mum Louise.

She has also shared snaps from the AlgarveIbiza and Marbella.
