REPORT: Robert Quinn Traded To The Philadelphia Eagles
The Chicago Bears are a rebuilding team. While their win on Monday night was awesome, GM Ryan Poles is committed to his course. That remained clear when he traded veteran pass rusher Robert Quinn to the Philadelphia Eagles. It is a move that makes sense for both sides. Chicago gets draft compensation in return, while the NFC-leading Eagles stack their defense with another accomplished player as they chase a Super Bowl.
The Bears get a 4th round pick back in the deal. While that might not be huge compensation, it is relatively fair. Quinn still has a heavy contract coming with him and his production hasn’t been stellar for the past month. Chicago secures more salary cap space for 2023 and now has five picks in the first four rounds of the 2023 draft. Quinn gets a chance to chase a ring before his career draws to a close. It’s a win-win for both sides.

Robert Quinn will be forever immortalized for 2021.
His 2020 and 2022 seasons didn’t do much for the Bears, but the man carved his name in the record books with 18.5 sacks last season. For one year, he was the best pass rusher the organization has had in the past 30 years. Losing him will make life more difficult for the defensive line in the short term. Even with his lagging production, he was still a credible threat. Now it falls to Trevis Gipson, Al-Quadin Muhammad, and Dominique Robinson to pick up the slack.
It’s also a safe assumption the Bears will be active next year in searching for defensive end help. The good news is that the upcoming 2023 draft class is stacked with quality edge rushers. Poles wants to build through the draft. Matt Eberflus has already proven he can develop young guys. Robert Quinn will see his former team soon enough as the Eagles visit Soldier Field in December. That probably won’t go well for the home team.
It doesn’t matter. The Bears are focused on the future. Quinn at least gave them a parting gift to that goal.
