Take the tiny wave tool this morning
Hello Friends,
A hot one coming up along the beaches today. The Bureau says it’ll be sunny all day with a high of 32 and the wind will come up from the N-NE becoming 15-25 kts by this afternoon. As you can see from the pictures there are little waves at the best south exposures. Swell at sea was a shade under a metre at 12 seconds from the SSE as of 0700, which means a waist high wave face was about the best you could hope for from a typical set.
This morning looks like offering the most approachable conditions for beginners that we’ll likely see until late next week. Tomorrow we can expect a 20-30 kt midday south change and a ramping east-south combo swell in the 2ish metre range. On Monday the swell models are showing the cyclone swell starting to fill in. While it should be in the 2+m, 13sec power range, the wind is going to be 20-30 kts S-SE from the get-go. Both swell and wind are going to intensify on Tuesday but mayber we’ll have a little window of opportunity on Wednesday morning before the swell fades out and the onshores kick in again.
Go well everyone!
Weather Situation
A ridge of high pressure across the southern Tasman Sea and Tropical Cyclone Gabrielle over the Coral Sea are generating southeast to northeasterly winds along the New South Wales coast. Northeasterly winds are expected to strengthen along the southern half of the coast later today and then shift southerly on Sunday as a trough moves east. After this, another ridge of high pressure is forecast to develop, maintaining south to southeasterly winds early next week.
