Suicide Attack in Waziristan Kills 3 Security Personnel, Injures 22 Others
Three security personnel were killed and 22 others injured including 15 civilians when a suicide attacker in a ‘rickshaw’ hit a convoy of security forces in the Mir Ali sub-division of the North Waziristan district on Saturday.
According to local officials, a rickshaw struck the security force’s vehicle in the Khajori area when a convoy of security forces was escorting the employees of the Marri Petroleum Company on its way from North Waziristan to Bannu.
Three security forces were martyred in the attack and 22 others, including 15 employees of the gas and oil company, sustained injuries, according to local sources.
Security personnel reached the area immediately after the explosion and injured persons were airlifted to Bannu’s Combined Military Hospital for treatment.
The outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed the responsibility for the attack and has said that the militant groups will intensify their attacks across Pakistan until their demands are met.
TTP officially ended its unilateral ceasefire with the Pakistani government in November. Since then, the insurgent group has multi-folded its attacks targeting police check posts, military personnel, Inter-Service Intelligent (ISI), and ordinary citizens.
Pakistani military and civil leaders have repeatedly emphasized to taking extra majors to fight the growing terrorism and militancy in the country, which has already resulted in the death and injury of thousands of people.
Meanwhile, Pakistani officials scapegoat the Afghan Taliban for giving sanctuaries to their ideological twin TTP in Afghanistan. It is believed that Afghan Taliban are paying back the TTP their due for supporting the group in the fight against the American-backed Kabul regime for the past two decades, according to Pakistani officials.
