[Men's Volleyball] UCM Opens Conference Play With Two Wins
UC Merced knocked off Simpson in four sets on Friday night and then swept Pacific Union on Sunday to open California Pacific Conference play 2-0. The Bobcats (5-6 overall) finished the SU match with season-highs of 65 digs, 52 kills, and 50 assists. Chris Morikawa led three Bobcats in double figure kills and tied his season-high with 15 kills on a .343 hitting percentage in the conference opener. Morikawa's second straight 14+ kill performance was supported by four digs, two blocks, one solo block, and a service ace. He eclipsed 700 career kills in the victory and added 12 more in the win over PUC. Against SU, Ryan Kilgore produced a season-high eleven kills to go along with five digs, three blocks, and a service ace, and Jared Guglielmana registered his first career double-double tallying a season-high eleven kills and a career-high ten digs.
