The secretary of Louisiana’s Department of Wildlife and fisheries has resigned. Jack Montoucet's Friday resignation comes days after a former state wildlife commission member pleaded guilty to a federal bribery charge. Montoucet has not been charged in the case. His resignation was confirmed by a department spokesman. No other information was provided. Montoucet was appointed to the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries position by Gov. John Bel Edwards in 2016. Prior to the appointment, Montoucet was a Democratic state representative. He also owned an alligator farm and served as the chief of the Lafayette Fire Department.
