Now that's a big boat. A huge freighter hauling salt through the Great Lakes ran aground in the Detroit River, causing a spectacle just off the shore of a popular island park. Freighters regularly travel the waterway but they rarely come so close to land. So the sudden arrival of the Mark W. Barker turned heads at Detroit's Belle Isle State Park. Diane Reid summed it up with one word: “Whoa." The U.S. Coast Guard says the freighter got stuck about 8 a.m. Wednesday but was freed by a tugboat around four hours later. There have been no reports of injuries, pollution or damage to the hull.
