For a coach like TS he speaks about looking after players which pulling a contract would go against. Also considering he backed and supported Takairangi over something that gif me is a much more serious offence than having words with a referee.

Takairangi was one of TS’s signings. He not only played him after his driving episode but also when his performances did not warrant a place in the team. However rubbish he played he was only excluded when injured.
