The Nation's Weather for Wednesday, June 28, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
As a storm pivots slowly into eastern Canada, a dip in the
jet stream will help promote clouds, showers and locally
gusty thunderstorms as well as cool air in the Northeast
today. Some smoke from wildfires in Canada may be drawn
southward across the Midwest and Appalachians. Farther west,
thunderstorms, some severe, will rumble across the lower
Mississippi Valley. Pockets of severe thunderstorms are
likely over the northern and central Plains. Some of these
storms may reach parts of Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa at
night. Many of these storms will occur along the northern
and eastern rim of an intense dome of heat centered on
Texas. Temperatures will surge to 100 or higher in many
parts of the Lone Star State. Much of the West can expect
dry and temperate conditions.
