Trump's Arizona phone call bolsters the Georgia election tampering case: former prosecutor

According to a former prosecutor, the Washington Post report detailing Donald Trump's phone call to Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey attempting to pressure him to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in his state could help make the case against the former president for election tampering in Georgia.

Speaking with host Ayman Mohyeldin, attorney Renato Mariotti stated the bombshell report could lead to multiple new investigations opening as well as giving Fulton County DA Fani Willis new evidence to present before her grand jury.

"We have been focused on Georgia," the MSNBC host prompted. "We know about the elector scheme. But now, this new reporting from the Washington Post suggests that there's a lot more -- there's a lot of substance."

"Well, I think what it shows is a pattern of behavior, Ayman," Mariotti replied. "In other words, a common scheme or plan."

"Molly [Jong-Fast) had mentioned the Fulton County case," he continued. "He is, of course, pressuring Brad Raffensperger, the secretary of state. There was also a call to a man who is now deceased, I believe there's also a recording as well to the speaker of the house in Georgia."

"Here we have another piece where he is engaging in similar behavior; he's trying to pressure the governor in Arizona," he added. "We also know about his efforts for state legislators in Michigan. I really could see a kind of a scheme that is charged in more than just one state. iIthink that could end up pretty well in the Georgia case because it really goes to show his intent. It shows he wasn't just fumbling over his words, he wasn't mistaken when he was talking to Brad Raffensperger as part of the plan to overturn the election."
