Vietnam sends former head of coast guard to prison for embezzlement

HANOI, Vietnam: A Vietnamese military court has found a former coast guard commander, Nguyen Van Son, guilty of embezzlement and sentenced him to 16 years in prison.

Nguyen, 59, was alleged to have siphoned off $2.12 million from military procurement agreements while head of the coast guard, state media reported.
