A South Carolina man has been accused of driving for miles while throwing plastic baggies containing hate messages onto people's driveways, WNCT reported.
The baggies were thrown outside people's homes in a Horry County neighborhood. Police say they contained paper and "pellets," but did not elaborate on the contents of the messages. Residents told the channel they contained hate messages.
Jamin Christian Fite, 47, was arrested and released after he paid a $2,000 fine. He was ticketed for littering.
When Fite was arrested, officers found a black duffel bag inside his car that contained “a large quantity of clear plastic baggies w/paper and pellets inside.” They later found two more duffel bags with 791 baggies and discovered “that there were numerous baggies spread over miles of the neighborhood.”
Horry County residents said they'd also foundbaggies containing anti-Semitic notes in their yards back in July 2022.
“This is our second bag that we’ve received and the first one did have rice in it and I do remember reading it and it was some kind of antisemitic verbiage in there,” one resident told WNCT. “I didn’t open this one until just now. This showed up Sunday morning in our driveway.”
