My house was built in 1909 – I went digging for buried treasure in the backyard, I feel like I have a little museum now

AFTER buying a house that dates back over 100 years, an adventurer has built her own little personal history museum.

She began digging in her backyard and discovered treasures from the past.

Although she didn’t know what to expect when moving into a home from 1909, Jess Turnquist was pleasantly surprised with what she found

Mom-of-two Jess Turnquist (@jesstturnquist) and her husband decided to buy a charming old house in St. Louis, Missouri, and soon became fascinated by its history.

She shared a TikTok video to display everything she’s discovered beneath the grounds.

“Things I’ve found buried in the backyard of my 1909 house,” she said.

A few pieces of an old shoe were first, canning lids next, as well as a Christmas light ornament, a piece of a Snow White glass, a perfume bottle, and a toy gun.

Jess is also growing a large collection of glass bottles she’s found with embossed markings on them – a feature that gives away their antique age.

According to a viewer, one of those bottles, a vintage glass Clorox bottle, is a major find: “Clorox bottle to a bottle collector is gold.”

Jess is proud of her growing inventory.

“I feel like I have a little museum out back,” she wrote in the caption, noting that she was “digging for treasure.”

After one viewer suggested she create a display case with everything inside, Jess said she would take her up on it: “I should! Right now I have bottles scattered everywhere.”

Other commenters revealed the interesting, sometimes valuable, goodies they’ve found in their old homes.

“We found a real diamond ring,” one person shared.

“I once found toys and marbles because my house was a school before,” added another.

“My house was built in 1836 and I’ve found so much amazing stuff buried in the yard and under the floors. Some of it is over 200 years old,” a third wrote.
