Horror as girl, 9, is left fighting for life after being hit by car while using pedestrian crossing – as man is arrested
A SCHOOLGIRL is fighting for her life after being mowed down by a car this morning.
The youngster, nine, was walking across a pedestrian crossing with an adult near a West Yorkshire park when a black Vauxhall Corsa ploughed into her.
The horror unfolded around 11am, seeing emergency services race to the scene in Halifax.
The nine-year-old was rushed to hospital, where she this afternoon remained in a critical condition.
The driver of the car, a 53-year-old man, was arrested suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
The cops are now probing the crash and urging witnesses to come forward.
The youngster had been crossing King Cross Street, near People’s Park.
