Active shooter roaming streets of Queens, NY arrested: NYPD

QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) – An active shooter who went on a random shooting spree was caught by the NYPD.

On Saturday, the NYPD responded to multiple calls of a shooter coming from Queens and Brooklyn.

A man on a scooter had shot multiple people and then fled the scenes of each location the incidents took place in the Hillside and Jamaica sections of Queens. And another shooting took place in Brooklyn, the NYPD said.  

One male believed to be in his 40s was shot and taken to Jamaica Hospital, the NYPD said. His condition is critical.

Another individual shot an 87-year-old man was also transported to Jamaica Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. 

A person of interest, a 25-year-old male was taken into custody. He has one prior arrest in the New York City area. Police also recovered a 9mm pistol, an extended magazine, and additional ammunition with the suspect.

In total the man shot four people, injuring three and killing one, the NYPD said.
