‘Major delays’ plague BART amid equipment problems on East Bay track
Due to what the transit agency referred to as “equipment issues on the track,” BART suffered major delays Monday morning on the Berryessa line between Oakland and North San Jose.
The issues were first reported at 5:31 a.m. when the automated BART Alert page on Twitter announced 10-minute delays on the Berryessa line in the Richmond and Daly City directions due to equipment issues. The delays then became 20-minutes, before the agency announced a “major delay” at 6:15 a.m.

As of 7:25 a.m., no estimated time for the end of delays had been announced.
Green line service was temporarily shut down amid the delays, forcing travelers to transfer at the Bay Fair station if the closure affect’s their commute. It was restored by 7:50 a.m.
The agency did not disclose more details as to why the equipment problems caused such delays.
BART riders faced similar obstacles Saturday afternoon after “technical problems” forced the temporary closures of the red and green lines. The agency announced that service was being restored after a few hours, blaming the delays on “computer and routing issues.”
