European Preview – Derry City v HB Tórshavn
Derry City vs HB Tórshavn – Thursday 20th July 2023 – KO 7.45pm – Brandywell
UEFA Europa Conference League – QF Round 1 – 2nd Leg
Match sponsored by McCambridge Duffy & Budget Energy
Ruaidhri Higgins says he has no fresh injury concerns ahead of his side’s Europa Conference second leg tie against HB Torshavn at the Brandywell on Thursday night.
Adam O’Reilly remains sidelined due to suspension but him and the long-term absentees apart, it’s an otherwise clean bill of health for the hosts.
The first leg in the Faroes finished goalless last week and the Derry boss insisted that his side got the test they were expecting in the Faroese capital.
“If you look at their home form in European competition in the last few years you’ll see they’ve had some very good victories.
“We knew they were a good side and they didn’t disappoint us.
“To be fair, they started the game better than we did. They’re very good technically but I thought we improved as the game went on and we were the better team over the 90 minutes.
“It’s now vital for us to be at it right from the start on Thursday night and to get a packed Brandywell behind us.
“It’s something to get really excited about- playing in front of our own supporters on a European night here.
“The club hasn’t gone through a round in Europe since 2014 and that’s too long.
“Hopefully we’ll have every set of lungs behind us and let’s see if we can get this one over the line.”
Kick-off is at 7.45pm and will be broadcast on LOITV.
