CT police arrest third suspect in connection with threat to shoot Wendy’s works over drive-through order
Windsor Locks police arrested a third suspect Wednesday in connection with a June incident where three men reportedly threatened to shoot Wendy’s employees because they were unsatisfied with their drive-through order.
Police received a 911 call around 7 p.m. on June 5 reporting that a man had threatened to shoot workers at the Wendy’s on Route 75 and then fled in a BMW with two other men, according to the Windsor Locks Police Department.
Officers learned that the three men ordered food through the drive-through and weren’t happy with their order, so they reportedly went into the Wendy’s to make a complaint about their food. Once inside, police allege that the suspects threatened to shoot the employees. One of the employees reported seeing a gun in their car when they were at the drive-through, according to police.
Police spotted the BMW, chased them onto Route 20 and deployed stop sticks. The BMW continued to flee as police chased them onto Interstate 91 south, where the driver tried to ram his car into a police cruiser multiple times, police said.
As the BMW’s tires began to deflate, the three men got out of the car near Exit 38 and ran into the woods, according to police. Officers were able to detain one of the men, identified as Govanni Isiah Nelson, 20, of Springfield Gardens, New York, and deployed K-9 Rocko to help catch the other two.
The K-9 located and apprehended a second suspect, identified as 20-year-old Kenneth Raheem Harris of Hartford. Harris had a black small bag recovered by the dog reportedly filled with white powder.
Officers searched the suspects’ vehicle and reportedly found 90 grams of crack, a pistol with an extended magazine, narcotics packaged for sale and drug paraphernalia, according to police.
After an extensive search, the third suspect, later identified as 21-year-old Jadore Wong-Sang of Bloomfield, was able to elude police.
Officers went back the following day and located another firearm, a loaded .38 revolver, in the area of 200 Lamberton Road in Windsor where the suspects’ vehicle came to a stop.
Nelson is charged with first-degree threatening, possession of a controlled substance, carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal possession of weapons in a motor vehicle, illegal possession of a large-capacity magazine, interfering with police, sale of narcotics and breach of peace, police said.
Harris is charged with illegal possession of a large-capacity magazine, possession of a controlled substance, interfering with police, illegal sale of cannabis, possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, breach of peace and carrying a pistol without a permit, according to police.
Nelson and Harris were each held on $100,000 bonds, police said.
According to police, Wong-Sang was later identified “by various investigative techniques and resources.” Police learned he was on parole for felony convictions and was in the custody of the Connecticut Department of Correction at Osborn Correctional Institution in Somers for violating parole.
A warrant was issued Wong-Sang’s arrest, according to Windsor Locks police, and he was arrested in Somers when he was released from custody on Wednesday. He is facing charges of illegal possession of weapons in a motor vehicle, criminal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of an extended pistol magazine, interfering with police, possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), illegal sale of narcotics, breach of peace, engaging police in a pursuit, reckless driving and larceny of a stolen vehicle with a changed VIN number, police said.
Wong-Sang was being held in lieu of a $750,000 cash/surety bond and was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, according to police.
